Ben Spalding wants you to know the chicken he’s roasting at the third RoastSunday pop-up isn’t just a chicken. It’s Kentish Ranger free range chicken hung for at least four days to develop its flavour. Likewise, his roast potatoes in chicken fat and rosemary are not just roast potatoes in chicken fat and rosemary. Nor is his sourdough bread sauce just sourdough bread sauce. Nor is his Yorkshire pudding…
Get the picture? Nothing Ben does for RoastSunday is ordinary. This RoastSunday will be just like any traditional Sunday roast you’d have with your family only if your name were Spalding, only if brother Ben were behind the stove and only if your cousins loved the gravy so much they tried to gulp down jugs of it, as occurred at the first two RoastSundays.
Here’s the menu:

The June 10th RoastSunday will be divided into three separate sittings. The ticket price varies according to the wine matches. Beers and soft drinks will be available prior to, during and after the roast as will the wines, although at a somewhat higher price than is reflected here. We want to encourage you to pre-order your wine so that the service runs as smoothly as possible.
- Noon By The Glass sitting: £26 – no wine included (beer, soft drinks and wine by the glass and bottle will be sold at the roast). Please bring cash.
- 2pm Provence Rosé sitting: £38 – includes 1/2 bottle of Chateau Pampelonne Cotes de Provence 2011 Rosé
- 4pm Sauvignon Blanc sitting: £38 – includes 1/2 bottle Neil Ellis Groenekloof Sauvignon Blanc 2010 – Jonkershoek Valley, South Africa
