I agree, their pizzas were ace and the prices were normally quite fair, and I was disappointed to find out that they had shut, but I'm afraid I'm not surprised.

As a regular customer, I felt the service levels were really slipping to a point where you were lucky if you were served, much less in a timely manner. Most of the time it seemed that staff had their own agenda, particularly the late-night staff. I didn't mind the lackadaisical treatment so much generally, but when I was in a hurry and the woman behind the counter was engaged in a social catch-up with a couple ahead of me for what seemed like several minutes, I had no choice but to move on. I've had a few other friends who frequented the nearby pubs who complained of similar issues.

It's become a French café now, which I haven't yet been to. Now the only place to go if you want pizza by the slice nearby is... what, Voodoo Ray's in Dalston? Meh.

Gutted! Lived and ran supper clubs in Stokey for nearly 5 years and recently moved away. To hear this is heart breaking. Was best pizza in area by a long way.

Always thought their weighed pizza by the slice approach seriously impeded their appeal. They never really tapped into the lucrative delivery market properly and their website was always a bit of a shambles. I went in there on a Friday night and there was a relatively small queue and the counter service system was falling apart at the seams. Lovely staff though.

Such a shame because their pizzas were ace. Sad day indeed ;(

heartbroken too! i live around the corner and been away for sometime now, i just found this out! as an italian i must say this was a very good authentic italian pizza, i believe they should have spiced things up with some music or events or games or something a bit different to catch people's attention, beside the Free Internet Wi-Fi! Anyway, if you guys still want some Italian pizza, you can come to my house next time :)

I agree. Good food isn't everything in the restaurant business. I can't help but think of all the amazing Chinese restaurants in London that have a sub-3 rating on Yelp because someone didn't appreciate Chinese service standards (which are geared toward efficiency, not niceness). Of course Rome is famous for rude efficiency as well, but these guys were personable.

I ate at Datte Foco once as I was passing by and enjoyed it quite a bit, but with so many choices in the Stoke Newington area, perhaps it would have been a good idea to at least try to appeal to the pram crowd that dominates the market they opened their business in.

We went past the other day in the hope of grabbing a slice and saw it was closed. I peered in, and saw some work being done so was hopeful that they were simply refurbishing. Sad to know it is actually closed for good. That tasty pizza used to tide me over on the way back to N15 after several pints!
